Definitely I’m a PC
Posted by Gizzie @ 1:54 pm

After watching many TV Commercials from Apple making look the PC guy as a fool guy I have to confess that I felt really happy when I saw the latest Microsoft commercial.

Definitely, I’m a PC!

Just had to make a post about mDigger.
Posted by Gizzie @ 1:54 pm

devices As I roll back in here after three weeks of a project-induced/work-laden exile we know as “Implementation”, it occurred to me that of all hundreds of mobile apps I have used, tried out, evangelized and criticized, I have never posted a single iota about the one that I probably use the most. It’s true. I probably use mDigger mobile RSS system 5 times a day or more. I love it!  I call it a system because really, it’s more than an app. It’s a great solution for your feeds. It’s been around for a while, but I just had to say something about it. This seems like the right time.

mDigger is a great and efficient integrated system for delivering your feeds to your device. It works like this:

1. Create and account at mDigger.com

2. At that web site, go to the RSS menu where you can add up to 30 feeds initially ( you can request more if needed).

3. Go to downloads, and grab the cab file for Windows Mobile (I had to type in the cab URL for OTA install… I don’t recall a mobile site for install). For iPhone, navigate to iPhone.mDigger.net in Safari Mobile, for a mobile browser-based version of your feeds. No install necessary.

4. Sync your feeds

5. Begin consuming.

HTC Phones Like Toilets
Posted by Gizzie @ 1:54 pm

toiletcell768697 I don’t know, maybe not, but they can handle a swim here and there. Back in 2006, my i-mate Kjam took a swim in the oval pool and still works today. Back in 2007, Radimus share some info on how to save a wet device too. Now, Kip over at Tiltsite has a story of an AT&T Tilt that doesn’t want to die, “Toilet, Tilt, and Tank all start with T

Last Thursday my Tilt fell off my belt (inside it’s case) and into a Thomas Crapper here at work. Our toilets here are the auto flush type, it hit the water as the bowl was filling back up (thank goodness) and as I reached in to grab it, I caused the toilet to flush a second time.

It’s one of those high pressure flush toilets, the ones that go KAWOOOOOSH when you flush them and it sprayed water directly into the phone. I guess this is one case that the size of the tilt came in handy, it didn’t go down the drain.

Head over to Tiltsite to read the exciting conclusion…

There are a couple sites already posting some beautiful photos of the HTC Touch HD. The HTC Touch HD is a phone that HTC announced 3 days ago.

Many of the photos compare the screens of the HD and the iPhone. Click on the thumbs for fullsize.

$17,100 Blackberry Javelin – What a Bargain!
Posted by Gizzie @ 1:54 pm

I hate to really post 2x on this, but holy hell… ,100? Insert more crack into pipe. Wow! I was pretty surprised to see this phone at k early in the bidding as I indicated in this post (Grab the BlackBerry Javelin 8900 for just 25.00 USD), but more than a small car or a college education for an unreleased phone. Not me. Even though I love gadgets and pay early adopter fees often, there is no way in hell I am spending that kind of money on ANY phone.

AT&T Launch Dates Revealed
Posted by Gizzie @ 1:54 pm

htc-touch-pro BGR got their hands on an official looking, leaked document that details some launch info for the holiday season. The Fuze is what many are calling the “replacement” device in AT&T’s line up for the Tilt. Many of you know the Fuze as the HTC Touch Pro.

  • HTC Fuze will launch on October 23nd
  • Motorola V9x (new V9 with GPS) launches on October 2nd
  • Samsung Mirage i907 (basically our version of the Omnia) launches on October 21st
  • Pantech C740 in red, navy, and green launches on October 14th
  • Nokia 6650 launches in red and silver on October 23rd
  • BlackBerry 8320 in that totally cool color launches on October 21st
  • BlackBerry Pearl in pink launches on October 2nd
  • The BlackBerry Curve in “burnt orange” is pushed to “2009?.
  • The regular BlackBerry Curve is discontinued
  • The Palm Treo 680s are discontinued

Of course this is not confirmed, but BGR has a way of uncovering (leaking) internal AT&T documents somehow.

The Incomplete Guide to D-Pads
Posted by Gizzie @ 1:54 pm

atariThe latest handsets by ASUS and VelocityMobile may indicate a new trend in Windows Mobile devices: So long old D-PAD, here comes the trackball!

asus

Trackball? With Windows Mobile? You must be kidding me…

I decided to take action and review some of the D-PAD types that I’ve encountered during the years. As I did in my blog, with the Incomplete Guide to Mobile Forms Factors – this is obviously a non-official review but only my personal point of view. So, I give you now – the Incomplete Guide to Directional Pads!

Let’s get wiki’ed with it:

D-Pad: (from Wikipedia) a flat, usually thumb-operated directional control found on nearly all modern video game console gamepads, with one button on each point.

Amazing stuff isn’t it… (more…)

Get that iPhone off my Network!
Posted by Gizzie @ 1:54 pm

No, this isn’t a rant asking AT&T to do something about the 3G iPhone users clogging up my data pipes. No, not at all. This is actually a tip from Jason Langridge’s Blog tell those IT managers how to block iPhone users from using their corporate Microsoft Exchange Servers.

I’ve had a number of customers asking how they can block certain devices from connecting to Exchange.  This has arisen primarily around many IT departments being uncomfortable with people using an iPhone to connect to their corporate Exchange environment due to security concerns over the iPhone platform.

Now if you are using ISA as your firewall then you can block an iPhone (or other devices by inspecting the HTTP header)

To do this right click on the Activesync rule, choose Configure HTTP and then do the following

blockiphone

Thanks Jason Langridge’s
