Book of Music’s Teti Extreme Loudspeakers
Posted by MobiG @ 3:07 am

Book of Music has released some very uniquely styled speakers termed the Teti Extreme Loudspeakers. These speakers don’t come with your conventional enclosure system- the two towers are built on open frameworks allowing the drivers to work freely.

Truthfully, they show a striking resemblance to that revolving skyscraper built within the city of Dubai. Whether they revolve or not we haven’t a clue. Designed in Italy, these speakers are up for only $20,000 on the manufacturers website.

Outside of musicians, performers and audiophiles, there hasn’t really been a push to get custom-fitted earphones into consumer’s hands. Yes, there are services that will make them for you, and they don’t quite cost a king’s ransom. But the process is complicated requiring you to make a mold of your ear by yourself, or visit someone who will do it for you. And that’s the part of the process that a Montreal-based company called Sonomax is trying to eliminate.

While you won’t be able to run out to the store and buy them anytime soon, today the company was showing off their Sculpted eers custom molded earphone system which can be made by anyone, by themselves, in just 4 minutes. The process looks fairly simple and straightforward too. The default silicone tips on the earphones are very soft and can be inflated like a balloon, but instead of pumping them full of air the headband fills them with a soft solution that fills your ear canal. So when they solidify after 4 minutes you’re left with a perfect fitting pair of custom earphones which provide better sound isolation than even the most expensive generic pairs you can buy.

Posted by MobiG @ 6:47 am

It may be time to upgrade that old head unit in your automobile. If you own an iPhone, then you’re in luck because Oxygen Audio will be releasing an actual head unit labeled the “O’Car” that fits any version of the iPhone flawlessly. It will be bluetooth compatible enabling voice calls and ever other aspect of you’re car’s stereo functions. Using GPS and accessing Pandora to stream internet radio will have never been easier.

Yes, you’re iPhone will charge while embedded into the head unit and therefore relieve of your current car phone charger. O’Car’s built in Radio Data System will allow to you listen to all the local radio stations you love. It really is the best of both worlds. This is the first fully-integrated head unit ever released for the iPhone and we expect it to do very well.

If you still like that old head unit, then maybe the O’Dock would be a better match for you. No head unit installation is needed and you will still have all the functionality of the O’Car. It can be docked to any flat surface, particularly the windshield or the dashboard.

Midland Radio Sub Zero and BT SKI headphones for cold climates surface
Posted by MobiG @ 3:22 pm

Midland Radio has announced new headphones that are aimed at the user that spends a lot of time outside in the cold and wants to listen to their music. The new headsets include the SubZero and the BT SKI. The SubZero headset looks like a set of ear warmers, but the things are actually corded headphones that can connect to your iPhone or anything else that uses a 3.5mm headphone port.

The subzero have warm fleecy ear cups that will keep your ears from freezing off while you get your groove on outside. The headphones are adjustable and should fit any size head. They also have a noise-cancelling mic for making phone calls.

The BT SKI is designed for skiers and has wireless connectivity with Bluetooth to a smartphone, music device, or a Midlands 2-way radio. The idea is to allow the skier to communicate without being tied down with wires while keeping both hands available. Both of the headsets are offered in black or camo colors.

Caoon DSLR MP3 Player & Speaker Knows How To Properly Skirt The Law

By Andrew Liszewski

Unlike the makers of that Canon EOS 350D savings bank, the makers of this DSLR-themed speaker and MP3 player don’t have to worry about any legal repercussions from Canon since they’ve cleverly named their device the ‘Caoon’. Even though it’s a perfect replica of one of the company’s DSLRs.

Well perfect except that instead of taking pictures (or storing pocket change) it serves as an external speaker for any device connected to its 3.5mm audio port, or as an MP3 player loading content from an SD card or USB flash drive. The buttons to the left of the display on the back have even been re-appropriated as playback controls, and because it’s a bit more high-tech than that bank, it will set you back $82.99.

By Andrew Liszewski

A website called Internet Archeology has dedicated themselves to recovering and preserving the graphical artifacts of the early internet in order to better understand and appreciate the birth of the internet culture. And while their efforts have so far focused on graphics and imagery, they’ve recently created a Kickstarter project to attempt to preserve a bit of early internet audio in the form of a vinyl record featuring MIDI versions of hit songs from the 90’s.

They’re trying to raise just $2,500 in order to press 500 limited edition copies of the record which will include 16 songs from the likes of the Backstreet Boys, Blink 182, Nirvana and even Jay-Z. You can reserve your own copy of Now That’s What I Call MIDI with a pledge of just $25, while $40 gets you 2 copies and $150 get’s you 10 copies if you want to get next year’s Christmas shopping done really, really, really early.

Aluratek Bump Boombox with Remote Wireless speaker makes me thirsty
Posted by MobiG @ 5:08 pm

Aluratek has pulled the wraps off a new speaker line that can stream music wirelessly to remote speakers . The Bump media player supports up to six different wireless speakers and works with just about every media player out there that uses 3.5mm headphones. It looks a lot like a fountain drink cup cut in half to me.

The Bump Boombox section has a FM tuner and a SD card slot. Tracks can be played directly from the SD card slot and the thing has an internal Li-Ion Polymer battery. A USB port is integrated and the Bump has 3W of power for each channel.

The wireless speaker uses 2.4GHz digital tech and has a wireless range of about 60-feet. Each of the speakers has its own volume control and 3.5mm input. The speaker has 2W of power per channel and a bass radiator. A kit with the Bump player and a single wireless speaker will cost you $99.99.

Motz Tiny Wooden Speakers Gain MP3 Playback Capabilities
Posted by MobiG @ 6:53 pm

Motz Tiny Wooden Power Speaker (Images courtesy Pyramid Distribution)
By Andrew Liszewski

The last time we saw the Motz tiny wooden speakers their technological prowess left something to be desired. It’s hard to knock their lovely apricot wood finish and aesthetics, but $50 for a minuscule speaker isn’t exactly the deal of the century. Its latest incarnation however ups the ante with a built-in MP3 player that can load tracks from a USB flash drive or an SD card. For just $10 more!

It probably gains a little bloat from the added electronicy bits inside, but the Motz is still adorably smaller than even the included wireless remote, so there’s not much to complain about. Its rechargeable lithium-polymer battery is still good for about 10 hours of playback with headphones, or 5 hours when using the speaker, and it’s available now from Pyramid Distribution for just $59.99.
